Colorado Springs, CO – March 9, 2020:  Supporters and friends of local nonprofit Special Kids Special Families participated in SKSF’s 11th Annual Bowl-a-thon fundraising event and donned their best Irish green to help raise funds to support the organization. This St. Patrick’s Day themed event has become an annual tradition involving the Colorado Springs community, SKSF staff, and local businesses supporting adult day programs for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.  Contest and drawing prizes were awarded throughout the event with goodie bags given to every participant. Every lane was filled and individuals of all ages had fun bowling, mingling and socializing with friends.

“This Bowlathon was so much fun this year,” says Executive Director, Linda Ellegard. “Kids of all ages were here to bowl and we gave out some great prizes. Everyone was happy and we raised some funds for our adult program. Thanks to everyone for coming out and all the businesses that sponsored and donated.”

SKSF raised over $10,000 for the adult day programs. “This was the biggest year yet,” says Jon Karroll, SKSF Development & Communications Manager. “Many community businesses participated and helped sponsor the event this year. We appreciate all they do to help support our organization!”

Many thanks to SKSF Bowlathon sponsors: NuStar Energy, Blazer Electric, El Pomar Foundation, Berwick Electric, Warren Management Group, Simple CPR, Colorado Behavior & Learning Group, Colorado Springs Commercial, PDC Pharmacy, Hal Jordan, MRC Technology, & Michael Ryan.

Special Kids Special Families promotes, strengthens and supports individuals with disabilities and their families.  These beneficial programs teach individuals life skills in the community and in our centers.  Youth and adults with disabilities learn socialization skills and expand their levels of independence through fun educational activities.
