St. Patrick’s Bowl-A-Thon Raises Funds for Local Non-Profit
March 12, 2016: Special Kids Special Families raised nearly ,000 at their seventh annual Saint Patrick’s Day themed Bowl-A-Thon to support the Zach’s Place Program of local non-profit Special Kids Special Families, the only licensed child care facility in the Pikes Peak Region with the focus and training to support children with physical, emotional and intellectual disabilities.
Bowl-A-Thon participants donned their green and celebrated Saint Patrick’s while raising funds to support the Program at the King Pin Lanes on North Academy Blvd. The event has been held at these lanes each year through the generosity of the owners as well as the support of local business sponsors including, NuStar Energy, Greiner Electric, Vinton Law and Academy Bank among others.
“This event has grown over the years to be one of the favorites of the program participants and the staff,” said Linda Ellegard, SKSF Executive Director. “Everyone has fun in a casual environment, being together and helping to support our mission by raising funds for Zach’s Place.”
In addition to the teams of bowlers who pledged their support by participating, two teams of program-participants from the organization joined the fun and games; one team of kids with disabilities from Zach’s Place and one team from the Adult Services Program of the organization. The teams competed for prizes donated from numerous businesses around town in fun categories such as “most gutter balls” and “best costume.”
