Last week, our Joey's Place clients celebrated National Camping Week & had a great time learning how to set up the perfect campsite with all the fixings! They pitched a tent, rolled out a sleeping pad & sleeping bag, assembled camping chairs & a table, and got to test out all of the camping gear. After working up an appetite, they wrapped up the afternoon by making & enjoying yummy s'mores. It was a fun day of building practical skills & teamwork, all while celebrating the great outdoors! A new friendship has blossomed between our adult clients & Diane Reitan of Dianne's Dahlias!![]()
Dianne recently joined our Building Connections group for a career exploration day, sharing the inspiring story of how a single photo of a dahlia in a Martha Stewart magazine sparked a passion that grew into a thriving commercial dahlia farm right here in Colorado Springs. Our clients (who have applied, interviewed, and taken on roles within SKSF's own "garden company") were fascinated by the behind-the-scenes realities of transforming a love of gardening into a successful business. Along the way, they also fell in love with the beauty & magic of dahlias.![]()
Beyond inspiring their entrepreneurial dreams, Dianne encouraged our clients to be confident advocates & educators for individuals with disabilities. As someone who lives with a disability herself, her message of perseverance, self-advocacy, & possibility resonated deeply with the group.![]()

As Market President for hrEdge Consulting, Cinnamon aligns people, systems, and culture to help organizations across the US grow and thrive. Born and raised in Tennessee, Cinnamon and her husband relocated to Colorado Springs in 2017. She happily spends her free time outdoors hiking, skiing, gardening, and soaking up the sun with her 3 dogs.
