OUR MISSION

To PROMOTE, STRENGTHEN and SUPPORT individuals with disabilities, their families and caregivers.

Special Kids Special Families (SKSF) is a Colorado non-profit 501(c)3 organization. SKSF was founded in 1998 to provide respite and care for children and adults with disabilities. Programs offer community support services to families that are designed to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities throughout their life span.

The vision of our organization is to give people in need the resources, compassion and freedom to achieve the life that everyone deserves.

OUR PROGRAMS

SKSF offers Children & Family Programs such as our founding program, Zach’s Place at The Laurie Hillyard Family Center, the only licensed day care center in the Pikes Peak Region providing 24/7 respite and child care for children with disabilities. Programs designed for children ages 2.5-18 with disabilities and their families providing respite care, daycare, advocacy, community activities, life skills training, in-home care and supervision, and social groups.

SKSF offers Adult Day Programs for adults with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD). Adult Day Services provides community and center-based opportunities for adults with disabilities to engage with the community in a positive, safe, and healthy manner. We offer a day program that focuses on life skill development and socialization designed for growth and that promotes independent living, helping them to realize their dreams.

SKSF offers Residential Living Services for when a family member/guardian believe that 24/7 care is necessary for their loved ones continued health and well being. SKSF Host Homes emphasis in providing services and supports to adults with disabilities.

We also provide Foster Care and Foster to Adopt Services, serving multiple counties, and specializing in working with children and teens with disabilities who come from abusive or neglected homes. Our loving families care for children of all ages and cultural backgrounds across the Front Range. They provide the children with love, care, and a safe environment they so richly deserve.
