SKSF receives grant from the CDPHE for a vital public health initiative
October 1, 2024, Colorado Springs, CO – Special Kids Special Families (SKSF) is excited to announce a partnership with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) in promoting a vital public health initiative. The project aims to address the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on underserved populations, especially individuals with disabilities, by expanding equitable access to health education and opportunities. As part of this initiative, SKSF will be offering educational presentations about the importance of, where, and how to get vaccinated for seasonal viruses like the flu and COVID-19. We will also be providing transportation for individuals with disabilities and their caretakers to clinics for vaccinations. In addition, we will be creating a digital library of vaccination information to make resources easily accessible on our website.
A group of our SKSF clients, all individuals living with disabilities, will be leading these presentations. They hope to empower others in our community to make informed health decisions by delivering education that is relatable and accessible.
