Experience – Empower – Thrive!

Virtually Possible utilizes virtual reality (VR) technology to enhance the lives of individuals with disabilities. Virtually Possible is a unique grant funded program, focused on bringing the remarkable but often inaccessible natural recreation gems of Colorado and the Pikes Peak region to life through VR, and serve as a behavioral health tool to help overcome fears and reduce anxiety.

About Virtually Possible

Virtually Possible brings the remarkable but often inaccessible natural recreation gems of Colorado and the Pikes Peak region to life through VR. By capturing these breathtaking outdoor experiences using specialized VR cameras, operated by trained staff and more mobile peers, we can foster a sense of connection to nature for our clients, regardless of physical limitations. This initiative will not only deliver the mental and emotional benefits of immersive outdoor experiences but will also strengthen bonds between clients, caregivers, and peers through the creation and sharing of these powerful, shared experiences.

Moreover, As a therapeutic tool, it is already delivering measurable benefits—strengthening motor skills and cognitive function while helping individuals with autism and social challenges build confidence and reduce anxiety.

Funding for this important work is made possible by The Independence Center Fund.

The Independence Fund was established in 2010 with a $1 million investment to honor the legacy of Ted Skoog, the late husband of Vicki Skoog, founder of The Independence Center. The fund provides annual grants, generated through investment income. These grants support projects that promote independence and accessibility for individuals with disabilities in their six-county service area.

Originally launched in SKSF’s Adult Services division mid-2025, it’s our objective that (with funding) to replicate this dynamic, novel, and cutting-edge program at Zach’s Place to the benefit of our Children Services unit.
