Foster Parent Success Stories

It has been said there are no unwanted children, just unfound families.  At Special Kids Special Families (SKSF) we take that phrase to heart.  We are committed to making the Pikes Peak region the best in the nation for supporting foster children and their family providers.   Every month, more than 100 children and their caregivers are supported by services and guidance provided by Special Kids Special Families.

“We help connect children to families who can offer support and care–in many cases for the first in their lives,” said Jimmy Browder, Foster Care Placement Supervisor at SKSF.   “No two children are alike, and we help match the needs of those kids to their foster homes.”

Ronald and Stacy Woodson have been foster parents with Special Kids Special Families (SKSF) since 2019. They have fostered over 15 children throughout the years with caring for as many as 6 children at a time.  While some children had returned to their homes, others had come back into their care. They do an amazing job with the children keeping them busy and providing a loving, structured home that allows them to thrive.  Mr. and Mrs. Woodson have also fostered two of their grandchildren which resulted in being able to adopt them both successfully. They adopted Ezrah in November of 2022 and Ezekiel in February 2024.

SKSF has gratitude for the incredible love and support that families like the Woodson family provide for children in their care.  Their commitment to creating a safe and nurturing environment does not go unnoticed.  Their selflessness and dedication make a profound impact on the lives of these young ones, offering them stability, love, and hope for a brighter future. Foster parents are truly invaluable and make a positive difference in children’s lives every day. Their compassion and generosity are inspiring and create a foundation for a better tomorrow.

“Making the decision to become foster parents was a decision our family made after feeling the tug on our hearts to children that were in the foster system and after spending time with another family that fostered children. They opened our eyes to the realities of children and family needs that were involved with fostering….Our family is so thankful for Special Kids Special Families and their staff.  We look forward to continuing to foster and being a part of the SKSF organization. We have grown not only in the size of our family but in our capacity to love… beyond a level that we knew was even possible…”
