Support & Empowerment Services

Support and Empowerment Services provide crucial service offerings that provide assistance and aid via a wide range of diverse offerings. Addressing fundamental needs such as transportation, behavioral health, emotional support, workforce development, mentorship, and much more!

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH

We support you and your loved ones unique journey towards wellness and recovery.  Our licensed, qualified, and caring staff will meet with you and together determine a course of treatment suited to your outpatient behavioral and mental healthcare needs.

Home Care

Our disability home care services assist you or your loved one to receive quality compassionate in-home care services. We provide adults living with a disability the support and confidence to live safely and comfortably at home with dignity.  We serve senior adults, disabled veterans, and persons with cognitive or physical disabilities.  SKSF home care services can help overcome challenges in daily lives to make your and their lives better.

Education & Training including QMAP

SKSF training and educational offerings are designed to improve health literacy, foster preventative care practices, improve health outcomes and equity, and enhance overall well-being.  We foster communication and community throughout the various topics and channels by which we provide instruction and learning.

SKSF is a CDPHE Approved Training Entity and offers QMAP courses monthly for support staff and Host Home Providers caring for individuals with IDD. QMAP training is open to the public.

Transportation

For our clients, SKSF transportation offers door-through-door ADA accessible transportation for medical appointments, shopping, social activities, community trips, and more.

Services accommodate wheelchairs, walkers, those needing a lift device, oxygen, and other special needs.

Mentorship & Special Olympics

Mentoring develops individuals with IDD-MH needs through various training and educational opportunities to provide support and/or deliver interventions to others with IDD-MH. Mentorship is considered a best practice and consistently promotes positive outcomes for individuals with IDD challenges.

Special Kids Special Families is thrilled and proud to work with Special Olympics Colorado in a fantastic partnership to provide meaningful opportunities for our clients and community! We are excited to be a part of this collaboration and look forward to signing up athletes to join SKSF Team Heroes!

Workforce Development

Our workforce development offerings aim to improve education, training and employment opportunities and outcomes for individuals with disabilities who are unemployed, underemployed and/or receiving Social Security disability benefits.

Military & Veteran Support Services

SKSF loves our Veterans and Military families! We know and understand their unique culture and needs. That’s why we have developed a number of culturally responsive offerings specifically tailored for military, Vets and their extended families. Moreover, we partner with several fantastic local allies in this space including Victory Service Dogs, Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center, USAFA Cadets, Home Front Military Network and others. SKSF is a participating organization in the EFMP Program. Interested persons should contact their base installation EFMP Family Support Coordinator for additional details to get started. Our innovative Paws-Abilities Program brings service dogs to our clients and helps them develop confidence, trust, empathy, and more. Additionally, we offer all our diverse care and assistance services to those who have sacrificed and served (along with their families) from a trauma informed approach that focuses on their unique experiences. At SKSF, we’ve got your six!

GARDENS GROW

Our Gardens Grow Program is a therapeutic and educational space designed to enhance the well-being and skill development of both children and adults with disabilities. Through hands-on gardening in one of our three gardens and a tailored weekly curriculum, clients have the opportunity to connect with nature, develop new skills, build confidence, learn healthy habits, and, of course, have fun!

Our gardens follow therapeutic garden designs that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Each space is thoughtfully crafted to cater to the diverse needs of our clients, ensuring an inclusive and healing environment.

SPECIAL CONVERSATIONS

A Speaker’s bureau

Special Conversations is an SKSF innovative initiative launched through the generosity of community stakeholders including donors, foundations, and volunteers that serves as both a speaker’s bureau and a public outreach effort to build greater awareness of people with disabilities (PWD) and advocate for healthcare equity.
